The Fascination of the Commonplace

Our culture is defined by disposability.  Everyone today seems so taken in by "new" and "improved."  Too many of us are ready to discard what we have in favour of what we're told to want.

In contrast, I think there's virtue in looking at what has gone before.  The past is all around us, and all we need to do is to look sideways, beyond the high-tech clutter, to discover verities from the past that remind us of our roots.

That's what I hope to accomplish in this blog.  Je me souviens.
